“No weight - over seventy kilograms; not that height - XNUMX centimeters, and he insisted on becoming a jockey. Already as a junior high school student, he got up every day at half past four in the morning (!) in order to be able to mount a few horses in Warsaw's Służewiec before the lessons.
During his high school studies, he also spent every free moment at races. However, all this was not enough to get into the group of those starting in real races. At that time, only full-time employees of the State Horse Racing Tracks had such a right. He could only use it after his high school graduation (1951), when he was not accepted to study animal husbandry because of his landowner origins, and he got a job at Stanisław Pasternak's racing stable." „(…) After Tomaszewski's departure, Andrzej Orłoś, full of enthusiasm and imagination, took up training, working at the same time as the manager of the ZT. However, he did not give up his professional career. In addition, he dealt with driving so that even the Thoroughbred, Bao Day, learned how to walk in a harness. (…)
Thanks to Orłoś and Grabowski, new training grounds were created, and a grassy hippodrome was created in the place of the old one. More terrain obstacles have been built. (…)”
