Władysław Byszewski and his memories of Maciej Świdziński:
"On July 14, 1988, in the newly established Horse Stud in Krasne, its manager, Eng. Maciej Świdziński, while bringing the horses from the paddocks, was hit and, falling on the pavement, suffered a strong concussion. The unconscious man was taken to the hospital in Ciechanów, from where, after 3 days, he was transported to Warsaw, where he died on July 19.
Maciej Świdziński was born on February 19, 1930 in Łaziska in the Zamość region. There, in his family home, he spent the first carefree period of his childhood, which was interrupted by the war in September 1939. Living in the countryside, he has been in contact with horses since he was a child and took his first riding steps on a pony. After the war, he graduated from high school in Lublin, and due to difficult financial conditions, he could not afford higher education. During the holidays, he earned extra money working in the "Las" cooperative collecting undergrowth. In 1948, fate threw him to the Kozienice Forest, and having a moment of free time, he went to visit the local stud. At that time, I worked at PSK Kozienice and when I went for a ride on og. A signet ring, in the gate I met a young boy who accosted me flexibly introducing himself and asking permission to see the horses. I directed him to the equerry, and I continued my ride. After two years I met him in Moszna and it turned out that it was Maciej Świdziński. Later, he often jokingly reminded me that I sent him to the equerry, and I went on horseback myself."

Marek Szewczyk's article about Maciej Świdziński:
"Had he lived, he would have turned 19 on February 90. Who? Maciej Świdziński, the largest breeder of Thoroughbred horses in the post-war period. For many years (1959-1987) manager of the Horse Stud in Golejewko. His achievements will never be beaten again, and not only in state breeding - because this one is dying - but in Polish breeding in general. The horses he bred won the Derby in Służewiec (1962-1986) as many as 15 times! And twice in Vienna (Neman and Korab). And besides, 9 wins in the Oaks, 12 in the Great Warsaw, 15 times in the Prime Minister's Award and 15 times in St. leger."
