On May 27.05.1927, 5000, the Hippodrome with stands for XNUMX spectators was opened in Łazienki Królewskie. The design of the arena was made by Józef Główczewski (designed by Łącka and Białka), modeled on the Monte Pincio Hippodrome in Rome.

On March 10, 1927, thanks to the efforts of Colonel Zahorski, a meeting of the provisional Committee of International Horse Competitions was held at the Castle, chaired by him as the initiator, to which the following were invited: Director of the Department of Horse Breeding in the Ministry of Agriculture Fryderyk Jurjewicz, head of the Department of State Studs, Eng. Jan Grabowski, Col. B. Wieniawa Długoszowski, Col. Strzemiński, Eng. Z. Słomiński, builder in the Warsaw Magistrate, Lt. Col. S. Korytowski, Lt. Col. K. Rómmel, Major Hochstim, Capt. L. Kon, Capt. S. Halik, Capt. Dworakowski, Capt. Piotrowski, Capt. Kossakowski and Lieutenant K. Zaleski.
The matter of founding the Society of International and National Equestrian Competitions was considered and the presented construction projects were considered. It was decided that the construction of the new stadium in Park Sobieski should start on April 1, and by then the construction project should be completely finished.

This is how one of the most beautiful equestrian stadiums in Europe was created. Its designer and builder was Eng. arch. Józef Główczewski from Płock (also stable designer at PSO Łąck and Białka). The construction was carried out at a rapid pace and on May 27, 1927, the first international equestrian competitions in Poland were opened in Łazienki. They took place on 27 and 30 May and 1, 3, 6, 7 and 8 June.
