LOKAN – the son of the stallion Largis and the mare Lokana by Glockner old – he was born in the Stud of Stallions in Książ in 2001, and left for eternal pastures in April 2018. The Main Breeder of SO Książ - Małgorzata Studzińska still remembers him as a foal - which enchanted with its beauty right after its birth.

To this day, he can be described as the most decorated Polish carriage horse – both in terms of sport and breeding. Bred in the Książ Stallion Stud – throughout his career, he achieved significant sporting successes for Polish equestrianism.

One of his greatest assets was above average beauty. This beautiful raven black stallion had a magic about him – which attracted everyone.

Already as a 4-year-old he achieved success - winning the National Exhibition of Breeding Animals in Poznań. His fate then connected with today's leading competitor of horse-drawn carriages - Bartłomiej Kwiatek. Together, the couple achieved the greatest successes in the arena of the country and Europe, among them the following should be mentioned:

4 gold medals of the Polish One-Horse Driving Championships silver individual medal of the One-Horse Driving World Championships, Pratoni del Vivaro (ITA) 2010 won the dressage competition at the One-Horse Driving World Championships, Lezirias (POR) 2012 won at the CAI3 International Competition* : Kladruby nad Labem (CZE), Police nad Metuji (CZE), Altenfelden (AUT), Nebanice (CZE), Nemcice u Kolina (CZE)

In the collection of medals of the International Equestrian Federation - Lokan was missing the golden disc, which, as it turned out later, was won in 2018 by his stablemate from the box next to him - the Silesian stallion Sonet.

Lokan was a horse endowed with the features of a flesh and blood athlete. He was well aware of his strengths. Each trot drawn in his performance delighted people - and the movement - stopping and immobility for 10 seconds was rated in 90% as a 10. Bartłomiej Kwiatek understood Lokan perfectly - which made them an unbeatable team. This was perfectly reflected in driving skills competitions - where often the only possible result was a "double zero".

Lokan was very keen to travel. He visited almost all of Europe. He was brave, courageous but also a bit lazy and had his own opinion on certain topics. He was definitely an individualist. He never liked loud music or the speaker's voice in the speakers. He didn't like the sight of white fur put on a halter - or the one put on the carriage seat. He had a huge sweet tooth - and always impatiently waited for the next meal during the day. Moreover, more than once during the period of detraining - it very quickly drew the silhouette of a pregnant mare. He trusted the people around him very much - but he was also demanding. In the horse carriage, he always took the first place in the stall - and that's where he felt the best. In the Książ Stallion Stud - in his home - stable no. V - his box was located opposite the main entrance - as befits a true Star.

His successes and personal charm allowed him to be presented during many shows. He entered the arena as a living Legend of Polish driving and Polish breeding. He was invited by at the Pride of Poland to Janów Podlaski - where he beat Arabian horses head-on with his beauty, movement and monumentality.

As a breeding stallion - he proved himself 100%. During his lifetime, he had titled offspring. Stallion Bazyli (Lokan/ Bazylia by Palant) is a World Champion and XNUMXnd Vice World Champion of Young Horses in Driving, stallion Epilog (Lokan/ Egida by Nomen) is a Polish Champion and Vice World Champion of Young Horses in Driving, stallion Renesans (Lokan/ Regencja by Bank) and the gelding Aromat (Lokan/Aronia by Nomen) are the finalists of the World Driving Championships for Young Horses.

In 2018, his offspring won more World Championship medals. In 2018, the aforementioned stallion Renesans won the bronze medal of the World Championships for Young Horses in Driving in the 6-year-olds category. On the other hand, the mentioned gelding Aromat - in 2019 he became the silver medalist of the World Championships for Young Horses in Driving.

His offspring also excel in multi-horse teams, participate in the Polish Championships and the Polish Cup - winning medals.

Lokan was an inseparable element of the Książ Stallion Herd. He was a Friend to everyone – to whom everyone devoted a lot of attention. The Silesian breed in the world became a brand in itself, among others, thanks to him. Competitors and breeders from abroad – after dressage competitions performed by him, came with admiration to watch the Master. They often admitted with astonishment – that they did not understand – that such a large horse with a "round belly" could move in such a way.

Sonnet Master - from Książ

The Silesian 11-year-old stallion Sonet (Dastin xx – Sorbonne by Bojkot Sl.) is the most successful Polish horse in the history of one-horse driving.

He was bred in the Książ Stallion Stud and is owned by the Pedigree Breeding Center in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki Sp. z o. o

Sonnet is a combination of a Silesian mother and a Thoroughbred father. It gave us a wonderful new type - a sports horse with powerful strength and expression and endurance along with spaciousness in three gaits and great beauty. The sonnet is distinguished by great courage and ambition. Note the breadth of all three gaits and the stallion's agility.

Sonnet graduated from the Training Department as a 2,5-year-old - then he went to sports training with the player of SO Książ - Bartłomiej Kwiatek. Soneta's first successes include winning the gold medal of the Polish Indoor Cup in Pair Driving - Cavaliada twice. Even then, he showed above-average agility and speed. In 2015, during the World Championships for Young Horses in Hungarian Mezohegyes, he won the 7th place in the 2016-year-old Horses Final. In 2017, Sonet was included in the preparation program for the World One-Horse Driving Championships - Piber, Austria. After an excellent performance and second place in the marathon competition, he won the silver medal in the team and the 2018th place individually. In XNUMX and XNUMX he became the gold medalist of the Polish Championships in One-Horse Driving - Bogusławice.

Sonnet's greatest success is winning the Gold Medal of the World Championships in One-Horse Driving in Kronenberg (Netherlands, 2018). individually and a bronze medal as a team - together with driving Bartłomiej Kwiatek. It is the most spectacular sports and breeding success for Polish teams and horses of the Silesian breed.

MJT Nevdos S sp - Champion of Champions, good because Polish.

______________________________________________________________

The breeder of Nevados S, Stanisław Szurik, known to his friends as "Melchior z Liszków" (although he actually lived in Matyldzin near Mrocza), used to carry out all projects in his life with the right momentum. It was no different when in the 90s he decided to set up a sports horse stud on a newly acquired former state-owned farm in Liszków. This place was associated with horses even earlier - for several dozen years there was a station with stallions SO Łobez. Soon, most of the livestock buildings turned into stables where the first mares, both domestic and foreign, stood. Among them was the Bavarian Nicol (Nimrod B – Romina by Rasputin) born in 1996. She represents the Holstein family 930, from which come, among others, Reichsgraf and Casparino sires, Dega, Vermont Star, Crazy Boy and Caught in Action jumpers listed in the WBSHF rankings, as well as the very meritorious mother of Cantinera stud (Terra B). In German breeding, this mare produced two horses of the international GP class, and after the end of her sports career in Poland, already 3 licensed stallions (Casini White SM sp, Cassinivados SM sp and Carry on Cassini SM sp). Nicol took part in field trials of bravery twice - first unofficially, in an event organized by SHPKG in Włocławek, and two years later at the CPZHK event in Gliszcz in 2004. She came back from both events with medals and a rating - outstanding! Nicol is a tall, correct mare with a model conformation of 81 bps and excellent rideability, which Marek Orłoś assessed at 9 points. She turned out to be not easy to breed (out of 7 foals born, only 2 were qualified for breeding), but the patience of the owner and the professionalism of dr Przemysław Mazurek, who conducts breeding in Liszków, allowed to finally obtain satisfactory offspring.

In 2003, the leading stallion in Liszków became the 4-year-old Dutch Romualdo - the newly created vice-champion of MPMK in jumping (Mariusz Buczkowski). During a short break in training, he managed to cover over a dozen mares of KPZHK breeders, of which 4 foals were born in Liszków. All of them distinguished themselves in sport and breeding: Quattro sp (out of Quanta by Quamiro) - jumping CC Bartłomiej Włodarski, Gracjusz sp (out of Gracenta by Graf Grannus) - jumping N, Romana sp (out of Roma by Rodomo) - mother of Roncerto sp ( after Concert) of MPMK finalist Jacek Zagor and finally Nestia sp (out of Nicol) mother of our hero. It is worth noting that Romualdo in his later sports career won, among others, the title of Vice-Champion of the Polish Indoor Cup (Sławomir Hartman). At the age of 9 he went to Germany. First under Holger Hetzel, and then under Mario Stevens, he took top positions at competitions in Braunschweig, Kiel and Munich.

oo bay (Ofir — Federation after Burgas or.ar.) born. 1938,
bred by SK Janów Podlaski

The story of the horse, which was not overcome by the war, and which, after a long wandering, wrote a great page in its new homeland, had a huge impact on Arabian horse breeding and had its own museum during its lifetime.

In 1938, the Janów Podlaski State Stud gave birth to, among others, four colts included in the "Big Four - 4W". These were the sons of Ofir: Witraż, Wielki Szlem, Witeź II and Wyrwidąb (later known in Germany as Wind).

Director Andrzej Krzyształowicz, who started working at the stud as an apprentice in 1937, cited the then-common opinion that the first batch of foals by Ofir promised great hopes. They were properly built, distinguished by their beauty and good moss. Unfortunately, most of them were lost in September 1939.

According to the then director of Janów Podlaski, a talented breeder, Stanisław Pohoski, Ofir was the best stallion bred in the last century in Poland. He was the son of Fr. Roman Sanguszko in Gumniska Kuhailan Haifi or. ar., recognized as the best Arabian ever brought to Poland. This stallion died after only two years of stud activity, leaving 1931 offspring, including the best one - Ofir.

Director Pohoski definitely valued Kuhailan type horses the most. This is probably why he placed Witezia in third place behind his peers - Witraż (from Makata to Fetysz) and Wielki Szlem (from Elegantka to Bakszysz), favored by him, if only because of the dam lines they came from. Witeź II son of the Federation by Burgas or. ar, a typical Saklawi mare, was smaller than them, but very elegant. (…)

Ofir 1933, breeding Janów. He is considered the best stallion that was in Janów in the period between the First and Second World War.

victim-phenomenon
Prof. Witold Pruski writes about Ofir as follows:

“On the international arena, he would certainly not receive such recognition as in Poland and would not receive the best mares. In Janów, on the other hand, he left his best offspring with beautiful local mares, such as Witraż 1938, Wielki Szlem 1938 and Witeź II 1938. Unfortunately, Ofir bred in Janów for only three seasons, 1937—1939. Judging from the fact that in the first batch of progeny he produced three such excellent stallions as mentioned above, it can be assumed that he was a particularly suitable sire for Janów. However, he was not destined to stay at his home stud for long. He went to Tersk in the northern Caucasus, where he did not produce offspring of the same class as in Janów. He hid in Tersk in the years 1940-1948 and died there in 1948. He became the main continuator of the male line imported from Arabia in 1931 by Roman Prince Sanguszko - Kuhailan Haifi.”

In the interwar period, it was rare in the Polish cavalry that the rider could choose the horse he wanted to ride.

In 1935, Lieutenant Henryk Leliwa-Roycewicz, having won the title of Individual Master of the Army as one of the awards, obtained permission from the Minister of Military Affairs to choose a horse and ensure that the Ministry of Military Affairs would cover the cost of this purchase.

Roycewicz found Harlequin III by chance, during a pal force hunt in Łańcut with count Potocki. The horse came from a stud in Łańcut, and since it was difficult, disobedient and caused a lot of trouble to its owner, he was willing to get rid of it.

Roycewicz noticed the horse's outstanding, versatile sports abilities, and his difficult character later turned out to be an advantage in sports combat.

On this horse, Henryk Roycewicz achieved his greatest sporting successes.

The sire of Harlekin III was the outstanding Thoroughbred stallion Bafur.

Bafur xx was born at Veil Stud in 1921. It was purchased from Germany by the Horse Breeding Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Reforms in the recovery settlement. From 1927, he hid in Łańcut (Albigowa), in PSK Kozienice, in the stud farms of Michał Berson in Leszno and Count Janusz Czarnecki in Golejewko. Bafur's progeny was characterized by a large mass, but lack of nobility and dryness. Harlequin's mother was Blackfish - an American trotter, a horse with an excellent racing and breeding career. In Albigowa she gave birth to 15 foals, her offspring proved themselves in hunting runs.

Harlequin inherited their parents' virtues. He had large frames, 171 cm at the withers, great joints, but he was a bit tall-legged and had a relatively short neck. Great at gallop, covered a lot of terrain, easily overcame the widest terrain obstacles.

z. bay (Ofir – Makata by Fetysz) born. June 01.06.1938, 1957, d. XNUMX, bred by SK Janów Podlaski

When rebuilding Janów Podlaski in 1940, the Germans appointed Witraż as its first leading stallion. He was a horse of outstanding beauty, which he passed on to his offspring. It operated in Janów, Albigowa and Nowy Dwór until 1956 inclusive.

He left 14 stallions, 4 of which were used in the country: Como 1949, Celebes 1949, Banio 1951 and Muharyt 1957, and 10 were sold for export. He also sired 27 excellent mares, 7 of which became mothers of as many as 14 top stallions. The "Queen of Polish Arabs" Bandola 1948 was also his daughter. At the shows, the offspring of Witraż were most distinguished by:
— Celina 1949 — champion of Great Britain,
— Bask 1956 — US champion and sire of champions, who had an epochal influence on American breeding,
— Arwistawa 1958, the first winner of the US and Canadian champion titles, was his granddaughter,
— Aladdin 1975 USA champion, father of many champions, considered the successor of Bask is also his grandson.

Stained glass has played a significant role in the world's thoroughbred horse breeding. Even in Australia, Aladdin's son has recently become the national champion. After Skowronek, Witraż is the most distinguished Polish stallion in the world and will remain so for some time.

Unfortunately, Witraż lived in times when the export of Arabian horses from Poland was just beginning. Had he lived today, his influence would have been immeasurably greater.

It is difficult to find an Arabian in Poland today that does not have the blood of Witraż in it.

Wielki Szlem (out of Elegant by Bakszysz) bay born. 1938, dimensions 147-191-19,5 cm

He was the son of a mare that could easily be called a pearl of Polish breeding. She produced such stallions as: Jaszmak, Lowelas, Opal, Rosomak, Skarabeusz and Wielki Szlem, and only two of them were sons of one sire. Elegantka gave good progeny with each stallion. Her daughter Kamea 1929 also founded a valuable family.

Wielki Szlem started covering mares in 1940 in Pelkinie, then it was Janów mares (on evacuation in Germany), and from 1947 it was active in Nowy Dwór. In the years 1956—57 he was a sire in Albigowa. In Pelkinie and Nowy Dwór he met very different mares, among which they were also weaker in terms of beauty and exterior. His great merit was the leveling of this material. In total, Wielki Szlem produced 51 mares and 10 stallions, of which Miech Pełkiński, Anarchist, Czardasz, Czort and Duch were used for breeding in Poland.

Grand Szlem's daughters turned out to be very valuable mothers, giving many stallions used for breeding in the country. And so Gahdar 1942 was given by Abu Afasa, Mira 1942 - Mir Saida, dialect 1946 - Gwarny, Angara 1947 - Arax, Bint Munira 1948 - Badr Bedura, Cerekiew 1951 - Carycin, Diska 1950 - Drama, Ellenai 1956 - Eleuzis, Elf and Elbrus.

Wielki Szlem passed on great racing prowess to his offspring. Of his descendants, the classic prizes were won by: Omar - 1944 - Derby, Czardasz 1949 - Derby and Comparative, Czort 1949 - 2 times Comparative, Don Lambro 1950 - Derby, Dyska 1950 - Oaks, Kochana 1952 - Oaks.

Breeder: Białka Horse Stud
Patron: Malopolska Plant Breeding

______________________________________________________________
z o. o. (Partner – Perforacja / Ernal), b. 1991

Matka Weigh it – Perforacja was born at a time when shows were not considered the only purpose of Arabian breeding, its parent Białka was then even more racing-oriented, and in 1988 the first youth show was held there. Two-year-old Perforacja "got it" at this show, taking XNUMXrd place in her age class. The successes began only in the next generation.

Perforacja's first offspring was the stallion Pesal s. 1991 (after Partner). Thanks to the infusion of blood from the Ilderim family, or.ar. had already inherited a different type, more Saklavian. He went grey early, and his coat took on a milky white shade with a silvery sheen. Against this background, his large eyes stood out clearly, with "velvety" black irises, without visible white, with a "sweet" look, which matched his character - gentle, friendly, not difficult to handle, thanks to which he enjoyed the sympathy of his grooms. In addition, a short head with a deep ganache, a large nostril and a pricked profile - pink depigmented nostrils are not to everyone's taste, but such is the beauty of milky grey horses with large varieties. Pesal he also had a graceful arch of the neck, a horizontal topline, a high-set and carried tail - but the dominant feature in all descendants of Perforation was movement. Dynamic, efficient, and at the same time reminiscent of floating in the air - when Pesal he would break into a trot, he would set his head and neck in such a way as if he wanted to take off from the ground! Thanks to these features, as a two-year-old, at the Spring Youth Show organized in 1993 in Michałów, he not only won his class, but also won the title of Polish Youth Champion.

His refined beauty combined with delicacy and gentleness meant that he was even attributed with femininity, but this did not prevent him from having quite a good racing career – 2 seasons, 14 starts, including 2 victories and a success rate of 1,56, which is much higher than the average for his age group. After his career, it was time to participate in "adult" shows, where he achieved very good results – in 1996 the Polish Reserve Championship and the Nations Cup in Aachen, and in 1997 – the Polish Senior Stallion Championship; 2003 – the Dutch Championship and the Top Five in Aachen; 2004 – the Top Ten of the World Championship in Paris.

He was incorporated into breeding in 1996 and covered in all the "state" studs in Poland, and was also used by private breeders. From a mare bred and owned privately, Gracja-Bis kaszt. 1995 (Monogramm-Grenada), bred by M. Bogajewicz, sired the outstanding stallion Girlan-Bey grey 2002 – Polish Junior Champion Stallion 2003 and World Junior Reserve Champion Stallion 2005. In Janów, from the equally sophisticated and charming Polish and European Champion, Palmeta 2001, he left a successor – Palatino grey 2006, of pure Polish and Saklavian pedigree, inheriting from him the snow-white shade of grey coat, large, black eye and wonderful movement, also passed on to the next generations – but also the “pink snout”. Palatino, despite the lack of "running ancestors" ran even better than his father - Wp=2,23, in 2012 he won the Polish Senior Stallion Championship, in 2014 - the Porsche European Cup and Prague Intercup Championship. During a performance in Prague he broke away from the presenter and rammed a historic "Tatra" car standing in the corner of the arena - and despite this he won the competition.

Pesal was sold to the Netherlands in 2003, but returned to Poland on lease several times - the last time in 2012-2015. All State Treasury studs used his daughters, but now there are no more. The stallion died in 2018.

wlkp (Polarstern – Venus / NN), b. 15.05.1953/15.09.1982/XNUMX | died on September XNUMX, XNUMX

-------------------

When extraordinary individuals pass away, they deserve a few words of remembrance. Such was the outstanding horse-athlete, the gray Volt.

He was born at the Liski Stud on May 15, 1953, after the Trakehner stallion. polarstern. from East Prussian class Venus. Polarstern - black, massive, whose children moved well under the saddle. was matched with a small, gray Venus to increase mass and improve movement. From the mother, the foal was supposed to take over the dryness. Some of these intentions of the breeder actually found their way into the Volt. From his father he took over the exterior, the way of carrying his head and leaning on the bit, and from his mother the ointment, dryness and hardness in work.

The foal was initially a penalty, despite its late birth, it developed properly, but in its year of age it did not stand out with anything special. In this year, as it turned out later, there was also an excellent jumper - Bolgami. After turning 2,5 years old, Volt was brought to the Training Center in Kwidzyn in autumn 1955 as a stallion. He did not complete the test of bravery because of the clumsy part of the harness. Drawing was not his hobby in life. In the autumn of 1956, he was transferred to the State Stallion Stud in Braniewo, where he was used in sport; was ridden by Mr. Edward Perzyna. As a stallion, Volt didn't work out. He was sterile. Scrapped in the summer of 1957, he was transferred to sport horses. He suffered from castration very badly. Long after the operation, he dragged his hind legs. This way of moving stayed with him until old age.

The beginning of his career was not brilliant. Difficult to lead, he rarely passed the course cleanly, as pulling with his hind legs caused errors. The work put into it did not bring the expected results. Therefore, in the summer of 1958, he was transferred to a sports center in Wola in Poznań, intended for Marian Kowalczyk, under whom another son of Polarstern, Pregor, began to triumph internationally. Under M. Kowalczyk, as a jumper, he did not live up to the hopes placed in him. He was assigned to the eventing. In this way, in 1959, he met Marian Babirecki, with whom he did not part until the end of his sports career.

The choice turned out to be correct. Pulling the hind legs harmful on the show jumping course turned out to be helpful in the cross-country test, when overcoming obstacles on the landing. Tough, combative, he endured all the training loads imposed on him with great ease. The effects of this work did not keep us waiting long. From that moment on, the series of successes of this pair began, crowned with the 1960th place at the Olympic Games in Rome in XNUMX, where they lost the XNUMXth place with a small number of points. This year they also won the Polish championship in dressage.

However, since the Roman Olympics, Volt's iron health has broken down. It turned out that the given effort led to the almost complete loss of sight. From a magnificent sportsman, he soon became a horse that was almost groping in the dark, and its value was calculated only in the price of kilograms of meat. However, it was not abandoned. The exceptional care he received and time allowed his body to restore his weakened eyesight. Unfortunately, similar ailments, albeit to a lesser extent, occurred after any major effort. It took almost three years to return to the sports arena in full splendor. At that time, the club's colors changed from the Poznań center to the equestrian section at the PSO in Kwidzyn.

As time has shown, the greatest successes were still ahead of him. In 1964 he wins the Polish championship in dressage and eventing. He entered the 1965 season in full strength, preparing for the European Championships in Moscow, which were considered very difficult due to the level presented by the Soviet players. Well conducted in the dressage test, very good but not very good in the cross-country test, he stood as a leader in the jumping competition. One mistake in the parkour would cost him a medal. It was a beautiful fight, from which the couple Volt - Babirecki came out victorious, beating the parkour flawlessly and winning the European Championship. In 1965, Volt also won the title of the 1966nd runner-up of Poland in dressage, and in 1967 - the 1958st runner-up. The victory in the C class eventing competition in 1967 in Sieraków was his swan song. In total, during his sports career in the years XNUMX-XNUMX, he won six prizes in dressage competitions (places from XNUMXst to XNUMXth), ten prizes in eventing above class N (XNUMXst - XNUMXth place), and in jumping competitions of class C and above (XNUMXst —VI place) two prizes.

The number of kilometers traveled made itself felt in the form of inflammation of the flexor tendons of both front limbs. He was no longer suitable for the feat, but he ended up as a recreational horse in Łącko, serving in the years 1968-1970 for field rides. Then, in 1971, he was transferred to his mother stud in Liski for horse riding lessons. Nothing was the best in this role. His battered legs did not allow him to ride intensively, the hives did not prevent him from making some step, as a result of which the novice rider became familiar with the hardness of the earth. Then he was assigned another job as a guide to a herd of two-year-old colts. However, the temperamental two-year-olds did not respect the titled pensioner and teased him a lot. Society changed from two-year-olds to weanlings. He nursed a few years, getting along with them and having a hard time moving to a younger class every year. In the role of "uncle" he felt great and lasted until the end of his days. He died on September 15, 1982 at the age of 29 years and 5 months. He was an example of a horse that for eight years was among the top national and even European leaders.
